Whilst everybody else is January detoxing, we are thinking about gin! The studio had a bit of a gin Christmas starting from that classic clink of ice cubes at 6pm at parents' houses 'the strongest ever G&T' generally poured into a cut glass tumbler; and ending with a New Year visit at the Three Kings in Clerkenwell; where the G&T (fever tree tonic of course) is served with a fashionable plump chunk of pink grapefruit.
London being the home of gin, our studio neighbourhood has its fair share of gin fans. Charlottes Bistro runs a Monday night Gin School with talks from a different small batch gin producer every week. Brennen and Brown takes the stage tonight.
Hammersmith based Sipsmith was the instigator in small batch gin distilling. They pushed for 18 months to get a license to distill - as nobody had requested a license in 200 years. The final license was issued as a handwritten scribble and sits pride of place in the beautiful lab like distillery alongside their copper still "Prudence".
Another of our favourites includes Battersea based Dodd's Gin for their interesting geometric label design and their Doodle Bar where you can enjoy their delicious testbed1 gin and release your creative juices with the odd doodle or two. The perfect combination.
