"Nostalgia: it's delicate, but potent...In Greek, nostalgia literally means the pain from an old wound. It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone." Don Draper, Mad Men.
Don Draper hit the nail on the head. Even if he was drinking Old Fashioneds all day. (It must have been a lot of fun in advertising in the 60s).
Nostalgia plays an every increasing part in design and marketing as consumers search for reality and roots amongst our constantly changing world of technology and choice. Two very different ends of the market here reminiscing, one on preserving by Skye Gyngell, a short film for the ever inspiring Nowness and the other a new advert for KFC (thanks Creative Review) made by BBH London to promote Kentucky Fried Chicken's new pulled chicken range.
Nostalgia, potent for everyone. What are you nostalgic about? Comment here or join in our nostalgic tweets this week @barlowdoherty.
