Classic novels have found their way into our books of choice, must be the long weekend, a chance to take time to get onto a more substantial literary journey. Sarah is absorbed in 'Catcher in the Rye', Stephi in 'Crime and Punishment' and Miguel 'The Hours'. Abi meanwhile has been reading 'The Modern Peasant', Jojo Tulloh's fascinating tales of small producers in an urban environment.
Literature and food have a long standing relationship; the book 'Fictitious Dishes' by designer and writer Dinah Fried (appropriate surname too!) photographically recreates meals from nearly two centuries of famous fiction. Each photograph is accompanied by the excerpt the meal came from. The art direction and execution of the photographs has the amazing effect of bringing the books to life, through food.
